Happenings Fall 2016

As the year comes to an end, The Lend A Hand Project continues to expand our efforts to improve the lives of our Recipients. As one Recipient recently wrote, “I am so blessed to have you, I can’t say thank you enough for being in my life.” Here are some updates we think will interest you:

  • Thanks to all of you, we have just completed our most successful “Uninvitation” initiative to date. Your generosity enabled us to purchase gift cards for all of our Recipients, ensuring that each person in our program had a plentiful Thanksgiving celebration. This year we sent out 30% more dollars in gift cards than ever before.
  • The Lend A Hand Project teamed up with UJA and its “Families Helping Families—Thanksgiving Mitzvah Project,”and delivered food packages to more than 50 of our needy families.
  • We are proud to welcome the Bethrock USY chapter from Roslyn to our family of sponsors. Talia, their student V.P. of Social Action connected with our Case Manager, Ellen Acosta, and the group is now sponsoring three Recipient families.
  • We are also very pleased to welcome the Half Hollow Hills High School East Honor Society to our list of sponsors. Harriet Harris has been working with the students to sponsor several Recipient families.
  • Several of our Synagogue Partners will be holding holiday gift drives, enabling us to provide the 266 children in our program with much needed toys and gift cards for the holidays.
  • We welcome our newest corporate partner, Guttermans Inc, and thank them for their generous contribution. Star of David Chapels has also recently joined us.
  • Tsunis Gasparis, LLP has also joined LAHP as a corporate sponsor.
  • Through the sponsorship of Executive Board Member Gail Jospa, The Lend A Hand Project has become a member of the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA). Several Board members attended the HIA’s annual Expo and were able to meet and disseminate information about our organization to more than 40 companies and charities.
  • We once again remind you to join smile.amazon.com. Once you do, The Lend A Hand Project will receive one-half percent of every eligible purchase. There is no cost to you!
  • Our list of needy Recipients continues to grow as community service agencies refer more families and individuals. If you know anyone who might be interested in becoming a sponsor, please have them reach out to Ellen Acosta at 631-486-6636 or eacosta@lendahandproject.org.
  • If you are already a Sponsor, please remember your Recipient family for the upcoming holidays. Gift cards may be purchased through The Lend A Hand Project office. If you are not already a Sponsor, consider one of our Recipient families before the holidays.
  • Finally, SAVE THE DATE—April 30, 2017—for The Lend A Hand Project’s annual Spring Fundraiser. This year the event will once again be held at the Cold Spring Country Club. More info to come in the coming months.
